  Frequently Asked Questions
Why do my prescription drugs cost so much?
For brand name drugs, you will be charged 35% of the retail cost of the drug as your co-pay. For generic drugs you will be charged 20% of the retail cost of the drug as your co-pay. There is a list of catastrophic drugs that are limited to a maximum co-pay amount of $50. If you want to know if your drug is in this category, you may contact IPC Inc. and someone will be able to assist you. The minimum co-pay you will ever pay is $5 or the full cost of the medication, if that is less than $5. If you get a 30-day supply and you are charged $5, you will be charged $15 for a 90-day supply.

It may be wise for you to shop and compare prices of the specific drugs that you take so that you get what you need for the lowest co-pay. Also remember when you doctor says he is going to write you a new prescription, you should tell him that you have a percentage co-pay and you would like a generic or one of the less costly drugs that he feels might work for you.
